Dear Parents,
Happy New Year. A warm welcome back to all families of Seri Insan especially to the new families joining us.
This year we have made significant changes to almost all areas of the school as its vital we change and adjust to the new demands of the work place, the needs of the students and to society in general. I am sure you will be happy with the changes we have made. Most obviously the school has been given a face lift so things are physically looking much better.
The school has a change of management. Seri Insan secondary and primary has merged together under the same management to be ONE TEAM ONE SPIRIT. We are happy with this merger and we look forward to greater achievement in the years to come.
You will be receiving a monthly newsletter so if you find it missing please contact the office.
- Teachers
We have some new teachers who are all graduates to add to our previous staff. We warmly welcome them to Seri Insan.
- Uniform
The regulation school uniform blue t shirt is not yet ready. New students may wear a white t shirt until the uniform comes.
Shoes & Socks: All students wear plain black shoes and ankle length socks. It must be noted socks that do not cover the ankle are not permitted.
New students wear a plain, black or dark skirt for girls and long, dark coloured trousers for boys. Jeans are not permitted.
- Physical Education
- PE
There are changes in PE this year. PE is on Tuesday period one for the whole school. And on Friday period 1 for the junior school only. This is to minimise movement of students and activity around the school.
-
- Uniform
On Tuesdays all students will come to school dressed in PE clothes. On Fridays junior students come to school in their PE uniform. Bring your school clothes to change after the period 1 PE lesson.
All students are to wear black shorts or long black sports pants. Shorts must be below the mid thigh in length. By Tuesday 12th January all students must be wearing this uniform.
A sports t-shirt in the House colours is being made and will be ready by February. In the mean time all students will wear a plain white t shirt for sports.
- Bookstore
The Bookstore is operating from the gound floor and as usual most textbooks are late from the publishers. There is a significant syllabus change for Form Four and Form One so textbooks will be photocopied by the school office and students may purchase the photocopy from there.
Past and currnt students can sell their used textbooks and second hand books. Please liase with the book store or school office.
- Academic program
Lessons begin immediately on Monday 4th when school begins. School hours are the same all year unless you are given prior notification.
It is compulsory for students with weak Bahasa Malaysia competency to attend Saturday tuition classes at school as the national language is the foundation for all studies. The school will start actively enrolling students for our tuition program/extra classes for all subjects especially for our PMR and SPM students. These classes will be every Saturday. Details will be informed to you accordingly. Please liase with the school administration office.
- Co Curricular program
Co curriculum as per the Ministry of Education directive will comprise of 3 categories and it is compulsory for all students to choose one activity in each category.
- Chinese New Year Holiday
No student is permitted to take early or late leave for the Chinese New Year break. Times are clearly stated in the calender of events below. Permission will not be granted for extended holidays.
- Vehicles
Vehicles need to take extra care in the school compound for our students safety. We prefer parents to drop children at the school gate and not enter the compound front gate.
- School Diary
- Absences
Students are required to bring a note for any absence. Parents must sign a child out at the school office if for some reason they must go out of the school compound eg to the dentist. Students will not be permitted to leave without parents signing them out.
- Health, Punctuality and Manners
- Health
Students health is of primary concern. The school has a sick bay on the 2nd floor and two teachers trained in first aid are in attendance. Do not send sick children to school. It is better for them to rest and recover at home. Flu is contagious so do keep children away from school.
-
- Sleeping Hours
Teenagers need extra sleep due to hormonal changes. It is the parents responsibility to ensure their child gets enough sleep. Children who sleep in class will be asked to go home and the parents will be called immediately.
-
- Diet
To ensure learning is maximised children need to have a healthy diet. It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure your children have a healthy diet as this will improve their overall health and their learning.
-
- Punctuality
All Seri Insan community members will be on time for all activities. Lateness is not tolerated and their will be serious consequences.
-
- Manners
It is expected every student will have a high standard of manners. This value will be highlighted this year. Bad manners or impoliteness are not tolerated in this school.
